genderqueer

Any position in a wide variety of gender identities, spanning the spectrum between male and female. A person who is Genderqueer is not transgendered, though the option is open to transition. Being genderqueer has no bearing on sexual identity or orientation.

Eli might have a woman's body, but ze doesn't feel like a woman or a man. Eli is genderqueer.

Gender

The identity of a specific person. There are cisgender people, those who were assigned male or female at birth and identify with the sex assigned to them. Cisgender males us the pronouns He/Him, whereas cisgender females use the pronouns She/Her. ie: An afab person who identifies as female. There are also those who fall under the transgender umbrella, which is nonbinary, MtF, FtM, bigender, agender, genderfluid, etc. Transgender people don't identify with the sex given to them at birth. ie: A amab person who identifies as female. Transgender may use She/Her, He/Him, They/Them, or multiple pronouns.

Person A: You're a girl, right?
Person B: No, actually my gender is male.
Person A: Ah, my mistake. Sorry about that!

gender spectrum

The gender spectrum is a diagram of gender identity and is more inclusive than the gender scale. As opposed to having only two endpoints, male and female, and then some gray area in the middle, the gender spectrum includes people who are genderfluid, androgynous, more masculine, more feminine, trans, etc.; It is represented as as a sort of circle split into thirds by three arrows. One arrow, labeled x, represents a male gender identity. The second represents female gender identity, labeled as y. The third, labeled as z, represents a neutral or androgynous identity. Through this, the gender spectrum allows for those with non-binary identities to be recognized.

The gender spectrum helped me explain my non-binary gender to myself and peers.
