gender envy refers to someone typically a transgender person, who sees someone who looks the way they want to look when they transition. it can also mean something that is so “gender” meaning it’s a perfect way to represent your gender. this is a phrase typically used online and not seen really seen outside of the internet.

When a member of a group that has historically oppressed others sees the general public having empathy for oppressed people, they become jealous of that attention and they engage in mental gymnastics so that they can see themselves as some type of victim

People like to pretend there’s a war on Christmas because they have victim envy

Maya Envy 

The sudden possessive urge for a man (or woman) who is displaying attention or feelings to the object of their affection. This envy stems from wanting to receive similar attention.

Thursday, a man admired for his steadfastness, courage, and chivalry waved his hand to bid farewell to the friends he would be separated from, but one stood out most.

“Bye, Maya.” he called her by name, and his voice carried the sentiment of the days they shared.

With bittersweet joy displayed in her eyes, Maya waved back and said, “alright, thank you.”

And we watching the exchange wished Thursday would call our names too… we were all filled with Maya Envy.
