To insist for multiple days leading up to an event that you will be attending and then bail at the last minute via text message.
For the last three days James has been telling me he was going to come to the party. I knew he was going to pull a rider when I saw I had an unread text message this afternoon. Of course, the message said he couldn't make it.

The quarterback was down by 14 points and felt he had no chance of scoring, so he decided to pull a Cutler and act like he broke his back to avoid further embarrassment.

When somebody doesn't want to get involved in some sort of confrontation, like an argument, debate, fight etc. This is especially true when somebody asks you who you think is right in a particular conflict. Happens the most between feuding friends.

Frank to Bob: "Nah, man. You're wrong and you know it. Even (You) knows it! Right?"

die. it means you're gonna just go die. Its referring to the one scene in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, when Cedric dies, similar to when people say "Im gonna pull a Zayn" (pulling a Zayn meaning, suddenly leaving).
