Alfred, Commissioner Gordon and the Scarecrow all appear, but seemingly as 'their real life selves' rather than in hideous make-up CGI comic book fantasy fare.
The films a well written, though difficult-to-follow crime thriller by Christopher Nolan, which got mostly hugely positive reviews, and seemed to stand convincingly on its own as a movie project, rather than as a sequel or part of some horrid 'franchise'.
