Definition: "Shoving windmill blades into a coal mine" is like trying to hide something that is embarrassing, illegal, or wrong, or trying to keep a problem secret. Like, sweeping something under a rug. The additional connotation is that there is an added layer of betrayal to the common man because something described this way means the thing is being hidden by the very body that promises to have our best interest in mind.

Get the Bitch blade mug.One of the many weapons available to use in the 2015 videogame Bloodborne, the Blades of Mercy are a short sword. When tricking the weapon (for all weapons in Bloodborne hitting the L1 trigger will "trick" them allowing use of a secondary form) it splits into two smaller short swords. When split you do not have access to your left hand weapon however, you do get a expanded move set that allows you to quickly engage and disengage with opponents. It is primarily wielded by Eileen the Crow a hunter of hunters. To purchase the Blades of Mercy you need the Crow Hunter Badge. There are many ways to get the badge. You can kill Eileen at any stage of her quest or complete her quest and kill The Bloody Crow of Cainhurst. Regardless it is a great skill scaling weapon with a quick moveset.

Get the Blades of Mercy mug.One of the many weapons in the 2015 game Bloodborne, Ludwig's Holy Blade is one of the best weapons in the game. At its base the sword is a standard broad sword with a charged attack that does thrust damage (one of the many damage types, thrust gives a heavy damage buff when fighting enemies that are under the "kin" type). When tricked (hitting the L1 button tricks a weapon giving it a second form to use) the Holy Blade becomes a great sword using its sheath as the new blade. As a great sword the attacks are slower and cost more stamina to do, but cause much more damage. The tricked charge attack also does thrust damage. The sword can use paper (usable item that can give a weapon the fire, lightning, or arcane damage type for a short time) in both forms. Attained by purchasing it from the shop after getting the Radiant Sword Hunter badge item from the Healing Church Workshop area in the Cathedral Ward area. You need to beat the boss of the area old Yharnam (Blood Starved Beast) to enter the Healing Church Workshop.
