It's what a politician's hands become when they are suddenly thrust into the spotlight. It takes some serious time to polish and groom this look as they feel that keeping their hands together at chest level, whilst gesticulating, makes us citizens feel that they are more trustworthy. Behind closed doors, they're hands return to their normal function.
Damn! That candidate looks like he's the real deal! I can tell because his Politic Hands show me that he would never steer us wrong!

Keeping an old acquaintance or colleague whom you dislike as a Facebook friend in an effort to appear polite.
Person 1: I can't believe Jim is still friends with his crazy-bitch ex!!
Person 2: He isn't, he's just being Facebook polite.

Political edging is the practice of enjoying taking yourself, or being brought, to the point where you think an election is almost over, and a candidate is about to be chosen, then stopping or being stopped, before reaching the peak in which a candidate would be chosen.

an issue presented by one party or the other that is not a political issue at all, yet is tossed around by politicians to gain sway or distract voters from the REAL issues. Abortion, DACA, and gay rights to name a few.
Republicans throw around their abortion argument like a political football to prevent real discourse on reproductive rights for women. Democrats toss around this political football in their own right, resulting in neither talking about reproductive rights in general, but rather a personal religious belief.
