Chalga is the most common word, used for identifying the Pop folk in Bulgaria, incorporating a blend of Arabic, Turkish, Greek, and Roma (Gypsy) influences, as well as motifs from even flamenco and klezmer music. It is known for repeating musical themes and dance rhythms and its style of dancing called kyuchek in Bulgarian. In the beginning it was a "low-budget" music with often low quality, but with time it evolved to one of the most popular musical genres in Bulgaria. Now chalga singers are often professionals - some of them even winners of famous musical contests.

Get the chaka mug.The most popular music in Bulgaria.It is also called pop-folk.The word chalga is not correct because our music is now modern and its orientated to the pop music, dance, techno and ethno.Those who hates pop-folk calles the music chalga because its derisively.Our singers are mainly women.
They are beatiful but 40% of them has plastic operations mostly in the breasts.That is sad because that is like a tendention.They sing on playback which is sad too, because most of them can't sing very well on live.

This is called pop-folk not chalga.Chalga was listen in Bulgaria before 4-5 years.Now there are a few songs in chalga style but they are rare and for variety.
