General Chat

A chat room on Neopets that was once a legendary gathering place for fun-loving, open-minded people.
Unfortunetly, the creators of Neopets (Adam and Donna) gave way under pressure and decided that they would like their site to become the new Pokemon. They soon began the sick process of "cuteification", thus alienating their original fan base of bored college and high school students. In the process, they REMOVED the GC, then replaced it with pathetic new chat rooms so stuffed with unnecessary features that they loaded too slowly to allow the natural flow of conversation.
You will find former regs of the GC dispersed among the internet. Try looking on Sensipets, for a start.

The Doctor will probably recommend this post for deletion because he is a cretin troll.

chatclash

When an instant message (or text or chat) is displayed JUST as you have finished sending yours. Result is that your message is displayed out of sequence and/or you look plain stupid.

(10:05:10) Pat: Weather looks good for tomorrow.

(10:05:42) Pat: We could go to the beach.

(10:05:43) Me: We could go to the beach

(10:06:00) Me: Doh! chatclash.

Chat cooldown

The amount of time after the last message sent in a facebook/MSN chat conversation before it's OK to log out without saying goodbye/g2g etc. It varies from person to person but usually ranges between 5-20 minutes.

Person 1: It's been 10 minutes since the last message I sent to Bob. You think that's enough chat cooldown?
Person 2: It's borderline...but Bob's a dick, so just log out.

Tijuana Chat Room Test- It comes from the caution one must take before he knocks on a door in Tijuana, You don’t want to walk into a room of unsavory activities or an argument. You listen outside the door first; it gives you a chance to size up the players.

Same rule applies on the internet; monitor the site for a while to see who’s who before entering.

James was smart enough to use the Tijuana Chat Room Test to monitor the Hot for words "comment" page before he engage himself in a conversation. He so wanted to avoid the flamers, haters and psychos.

CHAT

Chairless Huddle and Talk. A quick variant on the pointless time-suck that is a "meeting".

The rules are:
1) No charis. Standing only.
2) Huddle means everyone must sand in a circle. No pass-outs.
3) No minutes may be taken.
4) No laptops, drinks or mobile phones.

The Seated Huddle and Talk is the more frequent (and less productive) cousin.

Any SHAT must have a Concise and Unambiguous Note Taker.

"We should have a meeting about this"

"No, let's have a CHAT."
