Screamo is not an actual genre. It was a term used by ignorant people who have no idea of what emotive hardcore is. Emo is emotive hardcore, and is just that, a form of hardcore, hardcore can have screaming, therefore, another genre(screamo) is redundant.

And if it were a genre, Alexisonfire, coheed, and all that garbage would not be part of it. It would be Swing Kids, Antioch Arrow, JR Ewing,Envy, etc.

Kid 1: I got the new Alexisonfire cd. Man I love screamo.

Screamo 

A subgenre of emo that was invented when emo turned mainstream. The word Screamo is usually used to describe metalcore and heavy post hardcore that have emotionally charged lyrics, which are often screamed. The emotions used in Screamo songs are usually more angry than whiney, but can still be very whiney. Anger IS an emotion, but MTV seem to think otherwise! Real emo/screamo comes from real emotions, not fake whiney bullshit emotions that the emo singers don't even have.

Mainstream emo fan: How can you diss Pierce the Veil?!?! You must be a heartless screamo fan!

Screamo 

A form of music for pussies. The lyrics consist of pointless stories about childhood heroes and the people who listen to it are in love with dinosaurs, thick rimmed glasses and other lame/bogus ideas. Also, the people who listen to screamo think they're "hardcore" and think that: dinosaurs still exist; the actually have problems but they really don't; and that they matter.

I'm going to go listen to Screamo to numb the problems I don't have because I'm a weakling.
