nazivegan

A sometimes militant type of vegan who isn't content to merely live with a vegan lifestyle and feels a moral compulsion to enforce his/her own ideals on other people. Problems arise because the vegan lifestyle is arbitrarily determined by a personal choice balancing prevention of harm to animals and convenience, and any attempts to force other people to conform results in absurd amounts of hypocrisy. (Animals are harmed in far more ways than just being used as food, and anyone who abstains from a diet involving meat products still necessarily causes harm to animals in some way, unless they are completely self-sufficient and don't use electricity or gasoline which both cause pollution when produced, grow their own food so animals aren't killed by combine harvesters, don't live in a house which uses matarials gained from deforestation, etc.)

A nazivegan claims it's okay to hurt animals only as much as he or she does.
That nazivegan was enraged that I ordered a turkey sandwich, yet he eats commercially-grown plants which result in the death of field animals during harvest. Who is he to draw the line for not only himself, but me?

parental naivety

The state of mind that most parents are in, even after discovering that, no their child is not a golden child.

It is a denial and ignorance of disgusting or dangerous acts committed by their, usually teen, children.
Friend one: OMG, so my boyfriend and I were hooking up in the kitchen, when we thought no one was home, and my mother walked in right as he picked me up and put me on the counter! She didn't even notice!
Friend two: Gotta love parental naivety!!

Alaska Native

The indigenous people of Alaska (including but not limited to the cultural groups Inupiat, Yupiit, Sugpiaq, Unangan, Tlingit, Haida, Tsimshian, Athabascan) who have inhabited the land since time immemorial. Alaska includes over 230 tribes, each of whom are sovereign entities and have unique traditions and ways of life. Their strength and perseverence in not only surviving but thriving in their environment has endured, and collectively they remain a significant and ever present population of the state of Alaska. Despite over a century of colonization, forced assimilation, disease, discrimination and cultural, linguistic and phsyical genocide they remain resilient and proud. This historical trauma, however, often creates debilitating social problems in villages of rural Alaska, that are compounded by the fact the state of Alaska that does little to support it's rural residents. But this is not the defining trait of Alaska Natives. They are indefinable; each Alaska Native individual, family, village, government unique. They are not a people trapped in the past, nor disappearing into a bleak, uncertain future. They are descended from incredible men and women who worked collectively to create a better future for their children and children's children, who continue to shape what it means to be Alaska Native today. At the heart of it all, they are human, perfect in their imperfection, capable of mistake, and with a great capacity for love and compassion, just as we all are.
Many Alaska Natives practice a subsistence lifestyle, which is a way of life practiced by their ancestors since time immemorial.

Native Americans

The people on Earth that were attacked, and cheated out of their land. Life for them was destroyed from the moment white people entered their country. The Lumbee tribe, in particular, are especially strong and proud of their heritage. They do not live on reservations. Most live in Robeson County, N.C. The Lumbees are also believed to be descendents of the "Lost Colony", though it hasn't been proven. Also, the Ku Klux Klan attempted to attack the Lumbees, but the Lumbees fought back and owned them. You come lookin' for a fight, boy, you don't wanna know how bad you'll get beat. I am a proud Lumbee, and I am kind of tired of stupid people asking me if I am Indian from India, or Hispanic. Get your facts straight people.
Idiot talking to me - "Hey, are you mexican?"
Me - "No, I am Native American, actually. I am part of the Lumbee Tribe, one of the many types of Native Americans."
Idiot talking to me - "So, you're mexican, right?"
Me - "Go sit in the corner."

native americans

The REAL Americans. They lived peacefully until the whites came. They brought diseases such as smallpox and syphilis to the land, disturbed (and later mass-slaughtered) the buffalo which they were dependent on and killed masses of native men, women and children WHO SURRENDERED.

But think about this for a moment; peaceful natives wrongly accused, declared war upon, thousands of innocents tortured and killed... and the land conquered by a bunch of dickwads who wanted GOLD and OIL. History repeating itself?
Pocahontas was real, but when her tribe was slaughtered she ran away to another country where she died of smallpox. Not such a happy ending is it? Many Native Americans died on the tiny infertile reservations they were forced onto.

native american

The once peaceful people who live in what is now North, Central, and South America. But since the Europeans came over the ocean, everything has changed, no shit. The Spanish and Africans (slaves) blended with many of the southern natives who weren't dead yet. Some natives retreated far into the mountains and forests (and saved their languages and cultures) so in a way, they were luckier than the northern natives. As for them, they were nearly fucking exterminated (again through diseases, poverty, and murders). 95% of natives were killed by the mid 1800's. And it didn't help when they were "removed" by the people who believed in Manifest Destiny, forced onto reservations (might as well be concentration camps), forbidden to practice traditions and speak their languages, and converted to Catholicism.
Here's a some random things people should know:
1. DON'T compare our suffering to other peoples' (like the Africans and Jewish people). What, is there a contest?
2. It's safe to say that we LOVE to dance and sing. And have sexual relations. Some more obvious than others.
3. Not all of us are fucking alcoholics. And only a SMALL percentage of reservations own casinos, which they pay hard worked CA$H for.
4. Every tribe is DIFFERENT.
5. Not all of us are bitter for what happened. After all, many of us are blended with other nationalities (like latinos/metizos, metis and griffes... many more!)
6. We're NOT Asian descendents. Just because we didn't leave things out to rot, and now archeaologists are getting bored, doesn't mean we came from fucking Asia. No disrespect to Asia though. We were created here. Understand?
7. We're protective of our families and friends. If you want one, you'll have the whole clan on your ass!
8. Our southern cousins below the border are NOT "illegals", they were here too, but they often get overlooked. We feel you.
9. It's fucking rude to dress your kids up and "indians" for Halloween. Red makeup, fake leather outfit, and feathers... And I ain't about to hit a child.
10. To my fellow native americans: Be strong, yes, just that!!!!!
Sha hi, those native americans have a wierd sense of humor...
