Lakin Hospital

The Lakin Hospital is located on Route 62, just a few minutes out of town from Point Pleasant, WV. It was built circa 1924, and was used as an insane asylum, a school, and a home for colored boys. It was closed down in 1956, but I believe it was used as office space until about 1970. It is now a delapidated ruin, sitting in the middle of an open field. It is said that many horrible things went on inside of these walls, ie. lobotomies and such. It is said that the black boys housed here were abused in every way imaginable. This place is one of the most well-known haunted places in the area, and many of the locals and even out of towners visit it on a regular basis. It is a spooky building in the daytime, but at night it is down right scary. Voices and cold spots are common place in stories from those who dare to venture inside. The Mothman, another local legend, is said to have been sighted nearby in the TNT area of Point Pleasant, but that's another story. All in all, this is one spooky part of West Virginia.

General Hospital

A soap opera airing on ABC that has nothing to do with a hospital but instead is about how wonderful mobsters are and how incompetent the police truly are. It's been on for over 45 years, though they declined to celebrate this important anniversary. It featured the famous wedding of Luke and Laura in the early 80's when mobsters hadn't taken over the show, but now it's simply about mobsters.

Charlotte: I can't wait to watch General Hospital today!

Bob: Why? I can't stand that show.

Charlotte: But the mobsters are hot!

When someone who works in the hospital (e.g. a physician or nurse) has been on the premises so long someone appears hot, even though they otherwise wouldn't if they were encountered in a more typical setting.

Steve thought that nurse in the purple was cute, but I told him she was hospital hot.
