Spawned from a dialect in North East Yorkshire, England where portmanteaus are widely used; Yam is a portmanteau of 'your' and 'mam' which is the North English way of saying mother.

Definition 1: Yam is often used in place of 'your mum' or 'yo' momma' and things of similar ilk in mother jokes. It can also be used in direct reference to your mother.
