A description of stating an interest in or membership of a given topic, issue or organization, regardless of whether the organization actually exists. Originating from the days when business and membership cards were a greater definition of who you were; i.e., membership card of the NRA or democratic/republican party.

"Cletus is a card carrying member of the National Racist -er, I mean National Rifle Association".

As a perjorative adjective, implies that someone behaves worse than another who is not card-carrying; i.e. a card-carrying --- is worse than a normal ---, and is possibly drawn to others of his kind.

carrying

someone is "carrying" when they have a weapon, in most cases a gun, on their person. it is normaly only applied to a weapon that has been concealed.

unlike packing heat, strapped up and simmilar phrases, carrying is commonly used by gun users who may not use the more "street" terms.

person 1: hey, you got you're pistol on you?
person 2: yep, I'm carrying.
