Atari Jaguar

The worlds first 64bit video game system console. Released 1993. Very unsuccessful dispite stylish black and red appearnce and 64bit power. Atari's final console and just as successful as the previous two(5200 & 7800). Made in the USA... Insert joke here. Atari Jaguar had less than 60 cartridge games made for it from 1993-1996 when atari pulled the plug.

Atari Jaguar sufferd from horrible and pathetic first party support and almost no third party support. Shame too. The Jaguar had the power to be a contender but failed for he reasons above.
_______________

Sega Genesis has 16bits.
Panasonic 3do has 32bits.
But Atari Jaguar has a total of 64bits!

Jaguar. Jaguar! JAGUAR!!!!
DO-THE-MATH!
______________
This system might have been pretty good and desireable if Atari hadn't screamed to the world through its poor and obnoxious marketing that it was "64bit".... considering that most of the games for the Atari Jaguar had graphics that were identical to what was found on 16bit systems at the time. A few games had graphics simular to what was found on 32bit systems, such as DOOM.

Most desired games: Doom, Alien vs Predator, Iron soldier 1 & 2, tempest 2000, Atari Karts, Wolfenstien 3-d, maybe a couple of more at best, maybe not...

Worst games: everything released for the Jaguar not listed above. The game "White men can't Jump" is said by many to be the worst game in existance! Possibly Even worse than ET for the 2600. "Checkerd Flag" is a pretty bad and a god awful game as well(Virtua Racing wannabe).

Atari 5200

During fierce battles with the Intellivision and the Colecovision, Atari decided to make a console that will replace the 2600. But ironically, the 5200 failed. Here's why:

1: The system was incompatible with 2600 games.

2: there was a whole shitload of Re- release titles.

3: they have a software library that failed to hit triple digits.

4: They created the most hated controller of all time.

The controller: Sure it has a pause button and a 360* joystick, but it didn't recenter properly and it was so fragile that it will break after just a few hours of play.
*Bonus!* did you know that you could plug in a sega genesis controller into a 2600 and it will work? As for the Atari 5200, there are third party controllers to replace the shitty ones that the system came with.

Proper Atari

A phrase used as a substitute for "totally awesome".
Often used by people who are into video game style music.

It is widely believed that Mike Cook of Spheres of chaos and the gamewave podcast coined this phrase.

Although this phrase can and is often used to describe the awesomeness of atari music, it is not exclusive and can be used to describe anything from music to your best friends sisters new haircut.
"Have you heard the new GOTO80 EP? It's Proper Atari."

"Dude, your mom looks Proper Atari in that sweater, she's really slutting it up since your dad left, huh?"
