Something most people try not to have or do to excess, though a few lack enough self control to contain their own urges, they need somebody else to do it for them.

The girl was as desperate to convince everyone that one kind of person was a treat to her as she was to sell them something that didn't work, or to convince them that something that never worked for her was working, and that it would work for them if they tried it. She was always smiling, since she was always trying to sell everyone something that didn't work.
