originated from users battle.net who play blizzard entertainment games. is now a widely used term on almost every multiplayer online game.

noob and newb is the same. newb is short form for newbie. key word is new. it describes an action that somebody new to the game would do.
usually meant as a joke or an insult to the other player's skill.

also another form of saying they suck.

Entering a server or gaming area as an expert, knowing that the server or gaming area is populated completely of noobs, then pwning them all just so you can get a high score.

(Created specifically for first person shooters where the player enters a server populated with other players and a specific mapset or something that makes it unique)
