People tend to think of relationships as binary. You are either in a committed relationship or you are single. A non-binary relationship is where you are fucking someone, but also free to fuck other people - like friends with benefits or the dreaded "it's complicated" relationship status.

Non-binary

An umbrella term for someone whose gender lies outside of the typical gender binary of male and female.
It can be a single gender such as a demigirl, or cover multiple e.g. when someone is genderfluid.

I am non-binary because I am not solely a boy or a girl.

The term “non-binary” literally just means “a gender category outside of the gender binary”. The gender binary is a worldview or a concept in which only two genders exist (man and woman). The gender binary concept includes a lot of other assumptions too, but this is the relevant part for now. Genders outside of the binary can include: All genders (Genderfluid but can also be called non-binary).
