When you hear a dog barking but there's no dog.
I was out and about and thought I heard a dog barking behind but when I looked there was no doggo in sight. The Paris Effect got me again.

The 2020 Effect

The instinctual feeling that it is still 2020. Shared by many members of Gen Z, who feel like past events are closer than they actually are; as if it is still 2020. Probably spurred by the pandemic and isolation, but nobody really knows where it comes from.

Most years have a satisfying ending, where after Christmas and New Years you get to reset and to on to the next year. However, COVID didn't care about the holiday season, and the defining characteristic of 2020 was carried on into the following year. In a way, it felt like 2020 never really ended.

"I think you mean almost 8 years old."

Wilshaw Effect

The "Wilshaw Effect" is a term coined to describe the cumulative and adverse impact on cognitive function, morale, and decision-making resulting from prolonged exposure and proximity to the phenomenon known as the "Wilshaw."

Similar to radiation exposure, this effect is particularly potent in hot, arid, sandy regions. Suspected to also negatively influence intangible aspects such as Peace, Love, and Happiness, the Wilshaw Effect necessitates individuals to distance themselves indefinitely from the source of the Wilshaw in order to mitigate its deleterious consequences. The only recognized remedy for the Wilshaw Effect is the removal of oneself from the prevailing influence, acknowledging its potential long-term consequences on various aspects of well-being.
Mike: "Goddamnit, what happened to this place!!! It's barely functioning and people keep leaving. This project is falling apart!"
Steve: "I believe that's the Wilshaw Effect. We could do something about it but then the project wouldn't be ohhhh so fucking profitable."
