Similar to the term 'beer goggles' in which someone not necessarily even mildly attractive may appear physically appealing through the eyes of one under the influence of alcohol. This word references those dressed in anachronismic costumes which may include corsets and other trappings designed to give the illusion of desirable proportions.

"That girl at the Renaissance Faire was GORGEOUS."

"Hon, I hate to break it to you, but you were seeing her through garb goggles. She looks nothing like that when she's not in a tight bodice and long skirts."
