When someone who is socially awkward doesn't know what to say when being spoken to or being asked simple questions, they decide to stay completely silent the entire time (aka “gagening”). Usually occurs in group meeting, business calls, and friendly gatherings.

Person 1: Hey man, how much is that cup of coffee?
Person 2: “gagening”
Person 1: uh...hello?

faux-gagement ring

A ring that a single person, usually a girl, wears on her left ring finger to simulate being engaged in order to prevent being hit on or to stave off general unwanted attention.

Guy: Hey, are you seeing someone?
Girl: **Obviously disinterested, shows faux-gagement ring** Yea, I am. Sorry.
Guy: Oh, never mind then.
