Fresh out of college mid 20’s people who claim to dislike all that is mainstream or popular, which is usually reflected in their taste of indie music and how quickly they’ll shun a group the moment they end up on a soundtrack, TV commercial/show or on the radio. They also dislike mainstream fashion which makes them easily spotted since the guys all wear the higher-then-clam-digger style pants while the girls all wear extremely thick rimmed glasses. (Making them conformist in their own group).
The surest sign of a hipster is their dislike for everything corporate so while they may never want to buy anything from a Starbucks, Gap or Pottery Barn, they will have no problem working for them since they always seem to be flat broke and complain about having financial problems, even though they have mom & dad paid BA.
Note: Hipsters dislike the title of hispster and are irritated to be called one.

Get the hipstermug. A shallow subculture of teens and young adults that shows how the worst of human tendencies to seek some kind of dominance over one another even stoops down to the most mundane subjects like tastes in music and fashion.
You know you're a hipster when you describe in the most pretentious way possible why your taste in edgy/vintage clothing and obscure music makes you a better person than everyone else while projecting your insecurities onto people who successfully fit into the realms of society while you failed miserably at doing so.

They also like to wear fashion-glasses in order to project a false image of intelligence.
They possess a deep misunderstanding of the word ironic, preferring to use the definition from Alanis Morisette's song rather than the dictionary.
Hipsters generate unusual and offensive odors due to their affinity for organic human waste products and a natural aversion to personal hygiene. In the male of the species, you can spot clouds of fleas living in their beards off of uneaten bits of cafe fare. In the female of the species, fleas can be found in their unshaven armpit hair.

Get the hipstermug. A subculture of boys and girls between the ages of 17 and 30, who live off of their parents' trust funds. They buy expensive clothing and listen to horrible music. Hipsters will usually clump together in groups, like barnacles. Anyone who isn't a hipster in their eyes cannot be fully integrated into their social circles.
Man, those hipsters got their parents to buy them an art studio downtown. They're looking for bands to perform every Thursday, but only if you're a hipster too; only if you're friends with them.
