Pope rope a dope

Pontiff and a boxing term for leaning against the ropes taking hits and only swinging to land a good punch. Mohammad Ali was famous for the maneuver. Used together the two meanings define Pope Benedict.

When the Pope, holed up in the Vatican, says he is sorry every which way he can think of for reading words like, "violence," "sword," "threats of death," "evil," "murder" and "Jihad" when quoting from an obscure medieval manuscript where a Byzantine King is criticizing Muslim violence of that era, while Muslim leaders and fanatics from around the globe take their repeated punches at the Pope, murder a nun, bomb churches, demonstrate and burn effigies of the Pope in the streets, call for his execution, and threaten the Pope and Christians everywhere with death, the sane World, everyone else, observing it all scratches their heads in awe. A smart Pope is doing a rope a dope.

I watched it all on TV, the Pope apologizes while Muslims everywhere repeatedly attack him, murder a Nun and threaten the Church and I think, "Ya, right, just look, wow, its the pot calling the kettle black! I understand the Islamic radicals now. I like this Pope, he's our "Pope rope a dope!"

Dependency Theory

A theory that argues that, due to the exploitative nature of the relationship between advanced capitalist (western) societies and the Third World, the development of the former resulted in the underdevelopment of the latter. Because of its reliance on external sources of demand and investment opportunities, Western capitalism penetrated virtually all parts of the Third World and eventually laid down the foundations of dominance-dependence relationship structures between North and South which tended to engender and perpetuate underdevelopment in the Third World. According to this theory, exchanges between the North and the South, such as trade, foreign investment, and aid, are asymmetric and tend to stifle the development of the latter and to reinforce their dependence. The theory also contends that local elites with vested interest in the structure of dominance and in monopolizing (monopoly) domestic power cooperate with international capitalist elites to perpetuate the international capitalist system.

Line Piece Dependency

In Tetris, this problem occurs when a single column remains open and the player needs a line piece to fill it. A psychological dependency also arises as the player prays to the Tetris God for the piece.

This situation is most dangerous when the rest of the field is becoming stacked higher and the player needs the line peice before he/she can focus on the rest of the game. Often, there is potential of acheiving tetris, hence the disinclination towards blocking the column and focusing on the increasing height of the rest of the blocks.

Line Peice Dependency is normally a voluntary condition, but can lead to disaster if the God of Tetris looks unfavourably upon you.

And on the 8th day, the Tetris God granted a line piece to alleviate the player's line piece dependency, and there was tetris, and it was good.
