"Calling in Black" was a Freudian slip by a white male medical office worker, summarizing a phone call from

La'Shondra, who was calling in from Compton with a litany of symptoms (nausea, diarrhea. dizziness...) none of which has any visible signs. He hung up the phone, and announced to the mostly black staff, "LaShondra just called in Black" "Sick, Sick" He said immediately. "She called in Sick" Too late to un-ring the bell, he was spared a trip to HR, because the staff loved the phrase, and co-opted it into the office lexicon, and spread to other offices.

"Jamisa is calling in black on Monday, and making it a 3-day weekend."

a shitty, 13-year-old singer who released a song called "Friday" in which she gives us an explaination of which order the days of the weeks are ("Tomorrow is Saturday
And Sunday comes afterwards") and in which she also can't make up her mind in which seat to sit in on her friends car.
Basically, she makes Justin Bieber sound good.

Black Dahlia

The Black Dahlia was a terrible unsolved crime. It was the murder of a young woman named Elizabeth Short. She fell in love with a soldier, who died. To get over her loss, she went drinking and also started seeing other men. She becamse known as "easy". One day she was found severly dismembered. Her mouth was cut up to her ears to keep a "smile" on her face. She was cut up all over her body and sliced in half from the waist. Grass was shoved up her vagina. She was posed with her legs spread open and her arms above her shoulders.

This has become one of the greatest murder mysteries of all time.

Bernard Black

Bernard Black is a character in the UK television series 'black books'. Bernard describes himself as a reclusive wanker, and is correct. He is a chain smoker, an alcoholic and a horrible person - but despite this, there is something you have to like about him. Possibly the fact that he has an Irish accent, or he's unbelievably sexy. He can also live off the mushrooms in his hair, how is this NOT a good thing?

I can't think of an example that includes the words Bernard Black so i'm getting around it by writing what i just wrote.

back to black

going back to what you know.
trying something out, but realizing it wasn't for you, and going back to what you know. black has more of a lower connotation to it - versus going back to "white."

got into a relationship and changed aspects of the way you live and your life. got out of the relationship (exonerated yourself, more like it) and going back to your life (just the way YOU like it) = back to black.

going back to your ex, because that's what you know = back to black.

giving up staying straight, and giving in to your addiction = back to black.
