Noun
1. A slang word for Malays in the South East Asia region.
Due to the negative connotation and mental imagery of Malays the word Yalam have became an insulting slur.
Such negative connotation are bumming a cigarette from anyone around them, trying to lend some money or items from others and not paying back, taking drugs at the stairs of HDB blocks, having unprotected sex with their girlfriends and spawning a billion mini Yalams that scream and run around neighbour hood areas, becoming glue sniffers between ages 6-14 and eventually graduating to full blown meth addiction, blaming chinese people for their poverty and laziness while expecting all chinese people to help them out, raping their own daughters, modifying their cheap motorbikes by strapping on an empty can of milo to their exhaust, skate boarding under void decks while disturbing everyone's sleep, playing their god awful guitar, going awol during their military services, being a food delivery man with a messiah complex while not knowing that they are actually pest to the society, riding their E-scooters or E-bikes dangerously at pedestrian's walkway and when they are called out, they get extremely primal and aggressive. Not able to hold on to a normal job or feed a family of 10 without handouts and aids. Basically being a burden and trash to society as a whole.
Yalam also can be use a verb, such as Yalaming.

Jake and Brandon are smoking while chatting about life. Ashraf walks up to the pair.
Ashraf: Sup Bangs, how is it going? Long time no talk you la sial!
Jake: Hey Ashraf.
Brandon: Yea what have you been up to?
Ashraf: Nothing la sial, just doing my food panda job. Wah now adays difficult ah government come up with so much stupid laws on E-bikes ah. Fuck la sial money tight bodoh.
Jake: Oh damn that sucks.
Brandon: Yea.
Ashraf : Eh bang, can give satu rokok?
Jake hands him one cigarette.
Ashraf: bang lighter.
Brandon hands him the lighter and Ashraf pockets the lighter after lighting his cigarette.
Ashraf: bang can also pinjam $50, need to buy diaper ah.
Jakes reluctantly hands him $50 dollars knowing that he will never see that money anymore.
Next day in the news, Ashraf have been arrested for buying crystal meth with the money that Jake loaned him.
Jake: yo you heard what happened to Ashraf?
Brandon: yea, he was caught Yalaming as hard as a yalam can yalam.
