A blanket term used to childishly insult anyone who even slightly defends any aspect of socialism the accuser doesn't like.

Formerly used to refer only to supporters of Joseph Stalin, it has been infinitely expanded.

Samantha: I think we should have Medicare for All.

Tankies (or Russophiles) are small fat kids that thinks communism is cool while also thinking Russia is Marxist. They usually spend hours inside their rooms playing online games and blasting the Soviet Anthem.
It has been seen by many as one of the most annoying communities ever.
