Tribes in Africa and South America engage in ritual Virgin Sacrifice every fall for a good spring harvest/hunting season.

When a person sacrifices a toe nail in order to save the life/lives of a person/people who may or may not have been forced in to a very hostile hostage situation, usually resulting in the prevention of thousands of fatalities and/or a significant increase of activity in the illegal ivory trade.
