With a population of 85 in 2016 (a decline from the 224 in 2006) it is a filthy pit of junkies and dole bludgers. The population is mainly made up of people wishing to live far enough away from a reasonably sized town that they can grab some extra money from Centrelink. Famous for its half a house (that someone lives in I think) and a post office that doesn’t sell stamps. The pub can only serve frozen pizza and the beers cost double the standard price. To insure travellers safety the Coonabarabran road does not actually run through Premer to prevent cars being stoned by the locals. The NSW government does not recommend entering town limits.
