A classy girl who, contrary to popular belief, prefers Lilly Pulitzer to Hollister and Abercrombie. Also likes J. Crew, Polo, Vineyard Vines, LL Bean, Brooks Brothers and Vera Bradley. She has more refined tastes than tight tops and jeans from A & F. Impeccably groomed, but with natural looking makeup (i.e. Clinique), well-mannered, and upper middle class to upper class. Hair is straight, clean, and it's natural color with perhaps some highlights in the summer or lowlights in the winter. Does not succumb to trends.

Clara found Maddy's "preppy" look quite amusing. Maddy was clad in tight Abercrombie skinny jeans and an turquoise American Eagle striped polo as opposed to Clara's khaki Brooks Brothers skirt and a pink Vineyard Vines oxford. Maddy would never be a true preppy girl.

preppy

preppy is someone who comes from a certain amount of wealth and is raised within a certain lifestyle. Although "being preppy" is often conceived as one dressing in polos and popping the collar, there are different ways to approach the idea. First off, typically, preppies lean to the conservative side never wearing anything that would by any means be provocative or sluttly. Classy, not cheap and not thrown together. Tradition not trends. True preps don't just enter the everyday mall and buy things from the mainstream chains where the business thrives on the "hot" new fashion. Old, well respected establishments is the way of life. Education is pivotal, although one does not have to attend a New England prep school to reach said status. There are exclusive suburban public high schools who are a breeding ground to the preppy lifestyle. Ergo,preps are not limited to the New England and even the Southern areas, the North Shore in Illinois is a good example of true preps outside the stereotypical locations. Some may say that preps are ALWAYS snots, but that is not ALWAYS true. Yes, some are type A snots and probably should be smacked, but some are actually caring, nice people. It's not like they are this superior race, they are like any other demographic, consisting of the brats and the down to earth. Being preppy isn't just dressing in pastels and popping the collar it's a way one lives day to day. It's a mindset, and the look a prep has is just a supplement to the pattern of life.

preppy is more than fashion, it's tradition and excellence and respectfulness and a way of life.

Boys like this wear the fanciest brand of shoes, always.. some of those brands include uggs, boat shoes, chacos, nikes etc. The one who drives a cool car and get hits on by all the girls. Also the guy who gets all A's and never fails to make his parents proud.

Rich White girl: Katie, have you seen the new boy? He's so cool.

Katie: He is such a preppy white boy. I bet if you touch him, his dad will sue you.

A girl who is usually characterized by wearing specific brands such as J.Crew, Vinyard Vines, Lilly Pulitzer, Lacoste, Jack Wills, Jack Rogers, and Ralph Lauren. Her clothes are never too tight, or too loose. She has good skin, and is clean and polished. While a preppy girl looks the part, she must act the part aswell. She girl must be classy, respectful of others, and also a good student. The girls that act otherwise, are not a true prep, because they are obviously not classy.

Samantha is a preppy girl because she is classy and respectful, and she wears a pink vineyard vines polo paired with a cute lilly skirt.

preppy blacks

Well, where to begin. First W.A.S.P. are not the only preps in the world,there are also B.A.C.P.(black american christian preps)<-- I proclaimed us that myself. Second being preppy is NOT A TREND!! It is lifestyle. Im black, a prep, and no im not one of those ghetto acting black people either. I am just as prep as the next preppy person, but only darker. And no true preppy black person wears aeropostale, hollister, or even abercrombie and "Fitch". The guys where vineyard vines, Lacoste, L.L. Bean, Brooks Brothers, Topsiders, Cole Haans, Polos always popped, Ralph Lauren, and especially Patagonia(for when there filling sporty). And trust me the more monograms the better. For the Girls Lacoste, Polos always popped, Lilly,Topsiders, L.L. Bean, Vineyard vines,Nantucket red, Eliza B, J.Crew, C.K. Bradley is a MUST, and basicly any other preppy clothing you can think of,and less make-up the better. We are well educated meaning top of the line schools usually private and our families usually belong to the Jack and Jill of America Foundation. And we normally summer in nantucket or the cape. Being preppy gets me many stares but i love my lifestyle and will always be preppy! So when you see a true black prep tip your collar by letting them know being preppy is the ultimate way of life.

Our sports include: Soccer, Tennis, Golf, Crew, and basketball, and Football.
