Books or articles written by academics on academic topics such as the new nature of cities or the interconnectedness of the world. These works are intended to be popular, frequently are on best seller lists, and are aimed at a specific type of mass audience, usually one that is educated and works in the professional service sector. Usually, this audience has a large enough disposable income to afford popademic works.
Richard Florida's book, "The Rise of the Creative Class" is a popademic book. So is "Freakanomics."
