The saying goes, "Ain't that a pip?" A pip is something of large entertainment value, however it may not be of much consequence.
If something is laugh out loud hilarious, it's not a pip. Pips are smaller forms of hilarity. I'll try to use it in a scenario sometime.

PIP

A Prick In a Prius. A person who owns a hybrid and is allowed to use the HOV lane because of the hybrid status. This person will go 50 mph OR LESS, at any time of the day, because his or her vehicle can't do any faster and will block morning and evening commutes with impunity.

I'm late this morning because there was a PIP in the HOV lane who had a mile of morning traffic behind him while he drank his Starbucks and drove 50 mph.

Short for "Cox Orange Pippen", a famous old English dessert apple. Parent of many modern varieties. Small to med. gold flushed orange and red, usually with some russeting, generally picked late September.

The Cox Orange Pippen makes excellent apple sauce.
