Parental Ban

When a parent catches their child's friend doing something bad (e.g smoking, swearing, drinking, shooting a BB gun) and disapproves of him, thus banning him from being friends with their child.

Onri:"Bye mom, I'm going out"
Mom:"with whom?"
Onri:"Natan"
Mom:"That kid who's always shooting his BB gun at people? No sir, you are staying home tonight!"

Natan got a Parental Ban.

Helicopter Parent

A generation of parents who have unintentionally, hyper controlled and micromanaged millennials in ways that have diminished millennials ability to cope, self-regulate, and resolve conflicts without assistance or outside intervention. Whatever happened to letting kids be kids?

A Helicopter Parent doesn’t let kids make even small decisions about their day to day lives or create meaningful dialogue about major decisions, goals, or future plans.

Jekyll and Hyde Parenting

A style of parenting that provides a full spectrum of emotional and psychological experiences to a child vis-a-vis the parents’ instability and addictions which lays the groundwork for years of in-depth psychotherapies in which the child, throughout their lifespan, has the opportunity to undo the warp and find some semblance of balance and potentially, a sense of a true self.

Yup, at our house it was nose-to-the-grindstone discipline during the week and then Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride when the weekends rolled around; my parents were practicing devotees of Jekyll and Hyde Parenting.

helicopter parent

An individual parent who hovers over their child well into adulthood. Very seldom are there two helicopter parents in one family. One is enough to hover and annoy their thirty or forty year old "child" to the point of extreme exasperation.

He's forty two years old, but his "helicopter parent" mother comes over every day to make certain that absolutely everything in his life is right. (This includes selecting the right food, clothes, furnishings, girlfriends, friends, and job that her darling son has.)
