"Joop" is a slang reference to Joop! Homme Eau de Toilette. The term is often used to imply that someone is low in financial status and has a bad or overpowering smell, associated with the cologne’s reputation for being a strong stench and inexpensive perfect for low income people.

Living in the slums/favelas reeks of joop.
