Nerd Hierarchy

Nerd Hierarchies usually exist in a group of Star Trek Geeks. The levels are organized by knowledge of Trek. The leader is sometimes called the "captain" and is looked up to for advice. These groups of nerds often make up their own starships, such as "USS Valor" and write fanfiction and scripts that will go woefully unpublished.

Captain Warner is at the top of our local hierarchy.

(Mostly IT developing usage) Means sorting/filtering/mapping data via some defined hierarchy for such a type of data.

How should we sort this data ASC or DESC? None of this. There is a certain hierarchy for this data, it should be hierarchied according to it.

Vertical hierarchy does not refer to the order of letters in a word but rather to the order of leters in the alphabet.

Hierarchy

So... if I’m a lobster... and I’m at the bottom of a dominance hierarchy... and I want to fight the lobster at the top of the dominance hierarchy.... do I have to fight my way to the top of the dominance hierarchy one lobster at a time? Or do I just fight the lobster at the top? Yeah.... that’s what I thought.
