Soft ghosting

It's a nicer form of ghosting. Soft ghosting is essentially when someone “likes” your last message but never actually says anything. Technically, they did respond so they can maintain plausible deniability that they’ve ghosted you. It can be used to gradually break up with someone, or to cool off a developing relationship.

Yet soft ghosting doesn’t exclusively apply to romantic interests. You can soft ghost anyone: your friends, your happy-hour-loving co-worker, your acquaintances.

Girl: After our last date Noah has liked all my posts, but he has replied to me.

Friend: Whoa, he's soft ghosting you, girlfriend.

pseudo ghosting

Longer than usual ceasing of contact, within dating, between texts, calls or dates. This may mean hours or days between contact where the individual decides to finally reach out. This leaves the recipient of such messages lingering and wondering where the relationship stands.

What's going on with that girl Jessica you were seeing?
Oh she's pseudo-ghosting. We're still talking but she's keeping me guessing.
