Doris Day Parking

If you watch old Doris Day movies, she has the most amazing parking luck and timing. Ms. Day was one of the first ladies to drive solo in movies and she had the uncanny knack of pulling up in front of the bank, butcher, office, etc. and getting the spot right in front of the door.

As such, Doris Day Parking spots are the PERFECT parking spots - mere steps to the door of any establishment. Good mojo for Doris Day Parking is said to to be acquired by singing the Doris Day version of "Que Sera Sera" as you approach the area in which you are seeking a parking spot.

I was short on time when I drove to the bank at lunch, so I sang "Que Sera Sera" the whole way. When I arrived there was Doris Day Parking; the spot was so close, three steps from my car to the door.

The sweetest girl you'd ever meet. Not only is she the most beautiful thing your eyes will ever lay upon, her personality is somehow even more attractive. She'll be there for you no matter what, really meaning that no matter what. She inclusive in what others have to say on their own problems, and worries more about others than herself which is cute but also pretty bad. You'd think multiple times in your head that she really is the definition of perfection and you're right.

Derived from the phrase "Don't Rock the Boat" (DoRB), Dorbist is a term used (as either noun or adjective) to describe the tendency inherent in senior managers, or others with a stake in a system, to take no action to improve services, address problems or tackle problematic people/issues that are obvious to those working under them.

Someone exhibiting reluctance to act when faced with obvious problems or other negative consequences flowing from the poor/misguided/ill-informed decisions of their seniors.

Derived from Dorbism: a reluctance to act as an agent for positive change due to the perceived risk that such action will be viewed negatively by superiors, or those perceived as having 'power' or influence (including the press)

Despite the Government's recent cuts in funding for education, it is clear that most university Vice Chancellors are Dorbist from their relative silence on the matter.
