The town; Belmont, Massachusetts notorious for its drinking problems amung its middle to upper middle class kids in high school. The word always properly defined the town but came to use after an anual luau dance in which the fire departments from several local communites came to assist students to the hospital.

Incredibly sore knees on the morning or day following a night of moderate to heavy drinking. A dull, but intense pain in the entire knee joint; kind of like a headache in your knees. It can be so painful that the sufferer can be almost bed/couch-ridden for most of the day.
