Sutton is an attractive middle class town in outer south London with easy access to central London. It has a Surrey post code, but has officially been part of London since 1965. The town has a high-achieving state Grammar school for boys, and a private school for girls. It is a regional shopping hub with major stores and plenty of restaurants and coffee houses.
The town has quite an arty side with a theatre and a lot of outdoor, public art. These include two sculptures, an armillary, and three building-height murals - one of Sutton's twin towns, one a heritage mural mosaic showing nearby sites of historical importance and, last but not least for fans of neo soul, one of Erykah Badu, no less.

Get the Sutton mug.A genuinely nice town near the border between London and Surrey. It has pretty much all the ingredients - beautiful architecture including lovely old churches; a major high street with most of the top names (eg Waterstones Books); a really good selection of restaurants (including the fab Brasserie Vacherin); a cinema and excellent theatre (the Secombe), and plenty of green space to relax in.
