runaway roll

Refers to an inadequately-perforated and/or too-lightweight spool of paper towels or toilet-tissue. When you try to merely tear off a few sheets by giving the end of the roll a moderate yank, the paper does not separate the way you expected, and so the roll just wastefully whizzes off yards and yards all over the place, obliging you to fumingly remove the messily-bunched-up wad from the holder and tediously re-roll the paper inch-by-inch back onto the core again.

I do indeed prefer to purchase the "bargain basement" tissue-paper rolls from the supermarket or department store --- especially if they have a sale on the huge 20-roll "bales" --- but I find that a lot of times they are "runaway rolls"... the company goofed when they punched the rolls' perforations, and so that's largely why they're being sold off so cheaply.

Runaway text

When you text someone and the recipient doesn't respond but you continue to text over a period with no more than 30 -45 minutes in between messages. The most dangerous involve speculation of the recipient's current situation. And responses by sender to possible reactions from recipient.

Her: Was that you with Belle earlier?

Me:zzzz
Her:so it was?!

Me:zzzz
her:I hope you enjoy stds becausim sure you got em now
Me: zzzz
Her:i hate you and hope you die
Me: hey I just woke up and read your Runaway text

Runaway SCOTUS

A Supreme Court of the United States that has abandoned any and all tethering to the rule of law. As opposed to an "activist court", a pejorative term coined by the Republican Party to describe Supreme Court justices who interpret law based on precedent, law and the Constitution as opposed to say...the Bible, a runaway SCOTUS features unelected justices tossing overboard whatever mumblings they uttered about "Stare Decisis" (“to stand by things decided) during confirmation, and just makes shit up as they go.

• 50 year precedent of Roe vs. Wade? "Meh...we know best what women want."

• ATF (firearm experts) determined bump stocks turn semi-automatic rifles into machine guns? "Well I'm Samuel Alito and that makes my wife sad, so no."

• 250 year precedent of "No man is above the law"? "We think Trump might win, so let's make him King."

• People with degrees in meteorology should oversee the National Weather Service? "We can look outside, too."

• Is "Insurrection" bad? Well...we have two insurrection-adjacent wives, so that's awkward. "Let's make it not bad."

• ProPublica keeps writing about Alito and Thomas taking bribes like it's a bad thing. "Let's just legalize it."

We have a runaway SCOTUS that is ignoring historical precedent, citing witch trials as case law and legalizing bribing the judiciary.

The Runaway Guys, a youtube channel showing a group of 3 (adult) guys who Let's Play (mostly) Nintendo Video Games. Composed of ProtonJonSA, NintendoCapriSun, and the most famous, Chuggaaconroy. They have 106,861 Youtube subscribers to date. (Together they have 657478 subscribers) (102,406+168,806+386,266 separately.)

(They also often add semi-famous guest youtubers to their Let's Plays)

Suburban Runaway

One born, raised and schooled in a middle/upper-middle class suburb who moves to the city in their mid to late 20's and acts like they've lived there their entire lives.

Surburban Runaways will only congregate in certain neighborhoods of the city (ones typically deemed "dangerous" by their suburban parents), with a specific safety-zone of stores and bars.

If/When they do return to their hometown, they always make a fuss and never refer to it's namesake:

"Ugh, I have to drive out to the suburbs this weekend for a birthday party. Don't know what time I'll make it back, traffic coming back from the suburbs is always a gamble."

"Craig and Ruben got an apartment in Humboldt Park!?"

"Yep, they moved out of Tinley a few years ago; they had a spot in Pilsen, they just moved again."

"Wow, never figured them for suburban runaways...I guess it is the hip thing these days."

thermal runaway

What Garfield caused by claw-hooking a loose thread from Jon's knitted underwear as he loped past him on his way outdoors for a morning run, causing said "vulnerable to fraying" garment to rapidly and "vanishingly" unravel, and therefore leaving da unsuspecting Jon open to arrest for indecent exposure.

Garfield thought dat his creating a "thermal runaway" with Jon's jogging-garb was off-da-scale funny, but somehow da alarmed and enormously-humiliated Jon did not find said shocking event to be overly hilarious himself! :P
