yes/no/maybe/lobster

A meaningless but more exciting variation on the "yes/no?" question. Popularized by Gan Xingba's Avatar: the Abridged Series.

Can be abridged as "y/n/m/l?", but chances are, if your friend is not a hardcore Avatard, s/he will have no idea what the fuck that you're talking about and get confused.

Should we go see the movie? Yes/no/maybe/lobster?

A answer used to prevent your friend from being able to actually make plans on any day they mention to you weather they be with you or someone else incase your answer were to be a no.

Loyal friend: We still hanging out friday?
You: Maybe
Loyal friend's mind: *well fuck, I may or may not have plans on Friday now, and I cannot make new plans for Friday because I don't know if my original plans are, or are not happening*

maybo

Halfway between 'maybe' and 'no'.

It came about because I usually end up rejecting my friend's social invitations by text message after having been non-committal in person.

Also I've realized that a lot of people use 'maybe' when they are really edging towards 'no'. using 'maybo' is a clearer statement of your intentions.

'maybo' is normally used when you don't really want to say yes, but want to hold out the possibility just in case nothing better comes along. Its a pragmatic word.

Hey wanna come to that new club tonight?

I'm seeing a film, maybo come afterwards?
