let's-just-be-friends

A phrase used mainly to end a relationship. Once this is said, you will most likely never have contact with the other person despite the meaning of what was said.
Girl: I think we should break up, let's-just-be-friends.
Guy: Alright, i'm okay with that.
*2 months later*
Friend: Have you heard from -- lately?
Guy: Dude we haven't talked since we broke up.
Friend: Didn't she say she wanted to stay friends?
Guy: I guess not, no one ever actually means that.

Let's Just Be Friends

Sometimes when running into a guy who is a general Nice Guy or someone with Nice Guy Syndrome it's good to put them down gently with the phrase "Let's Just Be Friends". it signifies that at a girl or boy feels little to no attraction towards the guy or girl that has been pining for them for a date.

Most often this leads to the friendzone and if you don't mind being just friends that's perfectly okay, but if you are creepy you might never be talked to again.
"Hey Jenny, want to date me?"

"Sorry Chad, I just don't feel that way about you, Let's Just Be Friends"

Let's Just Be Friends

What someone says when they find your company enjoyable, but do not feel any attraction to you. It does not mean they want to hurt you, despite what many nice guys claim.
"I think you're a great person, but I just don't like you that way. Let's just be friends.

Lets just be friends

A polite way of saying "you're honestly terrifying and I'm worried a more direct rejection will cause you to break into my house and murder me in the night."

People on the receiving end of this phrase are expected to simply grow up and take the rejection like reasonable adults instead of whining like small children over the internet.
Person A: I like you.
Person B: I'm sorry, lets just be friends.
Person A: Oh ok. I can't say I'm not disappointed, but I understand that you are under no obligation to love me even if I was kind to you and we share a lot of the same interests, and I also understand that you are not obligated to give me a reason as to why you don't like me. I'll respect your decision because I actually have respect for you, and that respect is not and never was hingent upon whether or not we would have sex.

Let’s just be friends

A phrase that is commonly misunderstood by the nice guys. It means exactly what it says, but just incase you don’t understand I’ll dumb it down for you:
The girl who says this isn’t interested, not because she wants to be with an asshole but because she genuinely isn’t interested in you.

An example of such an interaction using this phrase:
Nice guy: m’lady, I am in love with you.

Girl: sorry, let’s just be friends

Nice guy: fine then, go for another man who will beat and abuse you, I can’t wait until you come back to me all beaten and bloody, cos that’s what other men will do to you. I would never do anything to hurt you if you said yes.
