Clanker
slang, derogatory (in-game)
A clanker is a mildly insulting nickname used by
World of Warcraft players to describe mechagnomes — the part-robot, part-gnome race introduced in patch 8.3. The term clanker (or clanka, plural: clankas) comes from the metallic clanking noise they make while walking, thanks to their
mechanical limbs and gadgets.
Often used in PvP trash talk or casual RP, calling someone a clanker implies they’re more tin than gnome — squeaky, awkward, and probably about to overheat. Not truly
offensive, but mechagnome mains may still act like you've voided their warranty.
"Ugh, our healer's a clanka. Hope he doesn’t lag mid-fight when his WiFi syncs with his bolts."
"Did you hear that
creaking noise? Yeah, another clanker
trying to sneak past the Horde camp."
"No
daughter of mine will ever marry a CLANKER!"
