A strategy that a losing team may try to use to get back ahead in a game of DotA 2. It involves a single player or more sneaking along a side lane to push towers while the rest of the team distracts the enemies in a different section of the map. If the 'rat' draws attention from the enemies and is confronted, they may simply run, teleport, or shadowblade to another lane to continue their ratting. Popular rat heroes are Tinker, Nature's Prophet, Phantom Assassin, or any hero that has high wave-clear and a Shadowblade/Teleport.

The Wharf Rats are a sub-group of Deadheads who are drug and alcohol free. Predominantly recovering alcoholics and or drug abusers. From the Jerry Garcia/Robert Hunter song "Wharf Rat" about a down and out wino hanging around the docks of San Francisco.

A rat king is when a group of rats become attached to each other by their respective tails; either because they are tangled, or caked in excrement etc. The rats cannot separate from each other and they become a big Rat King

A rat stash is a very thin and broken pathetic excuse for a mustache that certain individuals grow in a feeble attempt to look older while in reality it hinders ones appearance and makes them look dumber than they already do. People that possess them are usually 15 - 18 year old Caucasian kids that weigh under 140 lbs and act try to act like and dress like someone from a ghetto or low income neighborhood when in reality they grew up in a middle to upper middle class suburb (A.K.A. Wigger). Rat stash's can be found prominently in the South Philadelphia / Delaware County, PA area as well as their surrounding areas (New Jersey, Newark DE, Marcus Hook, etc).
