A person pretending they don't see someone trying to get their attention or communicate with them. Ignoring someone.

"Toby tried to talk to Jim, but Jim was talking to Pam and was bird-boxing Toby."

"Brandon I know you see me standing here. Quit trying to bird-box me."

"She stay bird-boxing these fools."

The birds are hungry

A phrase commonly used to signify that one will not get any left over food. The meaning is that instead of giving leftover food to the person asking for it, you would rather scrape it outside for the birds to eat.

Guy 1: Hey can I have your leftovers?
Guy 2: The birds are hungry.
