Starter-Bar

Usually a place where a group gathers in order to get the evening started. Most times "Starter-Bars" are located in the suburbs. After a few drinks and appetizers the group moves on to other places for good entertainment.

Person 1: Dude are you gunna meet us at the "Starter-Bar" after work tonight?

Person 2: Yeah dude, and after that we all should go down town to see that new band we've been talking about.

A "like" of a facebook status made by a close friend of the poster, thus clearing the way for subsequent likes by more peripheral friends, and avoiding that awkward instance where the only guy who liked your status is that creepy dude you went to elementary school with.

Hey, this guy I went to elementary school with just got a promotion! I can totally "like" this, because this other guy who knows him better already got in a starter like.

The act of starting confrontation and arguments on a constant basis without provocation.

Until they stop the strife towards others caused by the startimentative girl/guy, that guy/girl will find themselves alone, cold, lacking, lonely and unfulfilled for the rest of their days.

Starter Album

1. An album, CD, or other recording by an artist that is considered, or recommended by the artist's fans, to be the best introductory recording for one who is not completely familiar with the artist's work, or for one who has not listened to a complete album, CD, or other recording by an artist.

2. A release from an artist which has the greatest likelihood of being enjoyed and appreciated by one who has not listened to any of the artist's entire recordings, or by one who has only heard a few songs by the artist.

3. A recommendation by an artist's fan or listener that will, in the fan or listener's opinion, be the most appropriate recording to listen to as an introduction to the artist, or that is recommended to be the first recording by the artist that a new listener acquires and listens to.

Yes's "Fragile" from 1971 is a good starter album because you can hear the influence and virtuosity that each of the band members contributed to the songs. It is their classic, and quintessential sound that improves on their past recordings and then permeates their next several releases.

startrekked

real technology inspired by what was seen in a TV show/movie, like cell phones (Star Trek) and bionic limbs (Six Million Dollar Man), simple lighting using soda bottles placed in roofs in poor communities (MacGyver/simple, cheap and effective tools made from unrelated objects already around you) or lightsabers (Star Wars).

While a team of physicists was attempting to find new ways to deliver quantum information, they found that when more than one photon was fired through a cloud of rubidium in a chamber cooled by lasers to just a few degrees above absolute zero, the photons teamed up and started interacting and behaving in a surprising and unexpected manner. They discovered a way to bind photons together in order to form a new molecule, which behaves similarly to the lightsaber. It was an unintentional discovery and actually a "startrekked" by-product of these experiments. Otherwise, how would they have known the by-product was a lightsaber? The report gives no indication that the scientists will be using the discovery to create real-life lightsabers, but understanding the physics is the first step to that ever happening.
