When two people care a lot about each other, but aren't ready, or don't feel strong enough to declare that they "love" each other, they can declare they boofa du as an alternative but less strongly insulated statement. It still expresses the deep attachment and bond that two people hold, and that the two mean a lot to each other, just not to the extent of declaring "love" to someone.

Emma Du is my fav person on this planet. She is super kind, and I love her so much! 💘Her Friends include Olivia X, Lucy, and Anu G. Today I was going through her Insta, and I found lots of photos, with her and her friends from her old school.
