emo

Emo is a terrible chain reaction that infects people all around the world. It starts of with someone in a mid-high class suburban society that is bored, and gets little attention. They figure; "If I become different, people will notice me." So, they start exaggerating their emotions, mostly sadness, which seems to grip most people. Eventually, they will start showing all of the symptoms of an emo. In most cases, they will by a black book, in which they draw sad pictures and write sad poetry in. Then, they will comb their hair as straight as possible, in order to achieve minimum eye contact. And finally, they will start wearing black clothing (preferably with stripes or with band pins), pierce random spots on their face and (in severe cases) start cutting their wrists.
Eventually, other people notice, and some join this crowd. Almost all the people that become emo, never change. No one knows what happens to them after college either. They somehow disapear in their own imaginary sadness. *sniff*

I am an emo, someone help me... I feel like I am in a pit of never ending sadness and no one cares. PLEASE! Someone notice me... *cries*

someone you thinks they have issues and blames their parents. they believe in dark things and wear very goth things and are like goths to the power of 100. //suicidal emos (usually the "Real emos" tend to cut themselves out of stress hoping to find a certain relief. // Some people refer to some emos as fags, as they wear, short jet black hair, tight jeans, tall and skinny, hair over either the right or left eye at either a straigh and or diagonal style, usually wear vans/chucks and wear eyeliner, have piercings on their body and wear band shirts. Almost like "Punks"

Emo

An emotionally unstable person. They don't have to wear black or cut themselves. Those are just stereotypes. They can be your next store neighbor and you would probably never know. Mostly, they are emo, because of bipolar issues and nothing seems to make them happy. Even Marilyn Monroe was emo.

That girl must be emo, because she always looks so sad. (I don't know, I had to fill in the example!)

a person usualy between the age of 11 and 18 who wears tight jeans and brand hoodies

they are usualy from middle class white backgrounds and decide to become an emo because
A) they want to fit in (for some reason)
B) something very minor hapened in their life (like breaking up with some guy/girl) which they make a big deal of

C) they are confused

despite coming from semi privelaged backgrounds emo's usualy promote their life being shitty and hell and want to die

however as there is no real dramam in their lives they simply do this to get attention

The most hardcore Emo's are simply "pussy Goths"

1.)usually means someone who is insecure and has not found themselves yet, so he/she trys to "fit in".
don't hate the emo kids.
who cares about them.

2.)type of music started in the eighties/nineties. very emotional and loud, but popular.

Emo

Emo (pronounced /ˈiːmoʊ/) is a style of rock music typically characterized by melodic musicianship and expressive, often confessional lyrics. It originated in the mid-1980s hardcore punk movement of Washington, D.C., where it was known as "emotional hardcore" or "emocore" and pioneered by bands such as Rites of Spring and Embrace. As the style was echoed by contemporary American punk bands, its sound and meaning shifted and changed, blending with pop punk and indie rock and encapsulated in the early 1990s by groups such as Jawbreaker and Sunny Day Real Estate. By the mid 1990s numerous emo acts emerged from the Midwestern and Central United States, and several independent record labels began to specialize in the style.

Emo has been criticized for its androcentrism and the tendency of most emo bands to relegate women to the role of muse or heartbreaker in their lyrics
