The act of topping a subject and then dropping that subject to not seem rich or like a fucking nerd.

Jen: hey guess what I just got 50/50 in my physics depth study
Wang: wait what thats amazing!
Jen: yeah but I just dropped
Wang: wtf why the fuck u do that? U just topped and dropped? wtf u like not rich or a fucking nerd or something?

A self-belittling way of saying "published" or "released". Unlike those terms, which imply a certain equality between a producer and a consumer, "drop" suggests hierarchy, something being tossed from our betters above to us peons below. Record producers and film-makers laugh when they hear us using "drop" because it means they've convinced us we're less than they are, and simply live in expectation of what they condescend to fling over their balconies to the rabble.

"Don't say that new album's gonna 'drop'. That makes it sound like we're waiting for poop to fall out of a horse's ass."

invented by content creator Duke Dennis, the term "big drop" is essentially a nickname for him (also known as the "rizzler").

A Roblox community for the popular game Deepwoken has recently (October 2024–present) nicknamed a player that goes under the name Divinity "The big drop" because of his remarkable chime skills.
