twilight

A wonderful series of books about a HOT HOT HOT vampire named Edward and a wonderfully un-whiny girl named Bella. Bella, a smart, resourceful girl who is forced to live in a boring town with her oblivious and boring father, meets Edward at her high school. As soon as she sees him, she obviously can't take her eyes off him (did I mention he's HOT HOT HOT?) and he quite reasonably just wants to drink her blood. Bella and Edward quickly become quite close, but thankfully, Bella isn't so shallow that she only likes him because he sparkles, or is anatomically perfect (although she doesn't find out just HOW perfect until the 4th book *wink*), or has nice hair, she likes him for him. Edward loves Bella, too - what's not to like? He marvels at her wit, intelligence, and undying respect for all creatures, human or otherwise. Plus, she is eternally graceful, never being one to knock things over or, you know, have seizures at the most inopportune times. A series of tumultuous events in their unpredictable and completely original love story ensues, ending with a thrill that will have fans gasping for air every time.
Random person: Hmm, I wonder what I should read.

Random person's friend: Well, don't bother reading stuff like Hamlet or War and Peace, I'd go for the really *good* classic literature.

Random person: OH, you mean like Twilight?? Of course! Why didn't I think of this on my own? Could it be because, like most other Twilight fans, I have only one brain cell that is currently occupied running my basic functions such as breathing?

Random person's friend (who has been staring into space, drooling): Huh? Yeah.

Twilight

A love story between a vampire and a teenage girl written in 2005 by Stephenie Meyer. A book that has gotten overly popular since the movie came out with tons of teenage girls without a lick of sense who only like it because of it's popularity whereas there are a fair few such as I who have been in love with the series since it came out and shun all readers who started reading it when it became popular.
Fangirl: OME Don't you just loooooooooove Edward Cullen
Actual fan: When did you start reading Twilight?
Fangirl:..... A few months ago
Actual Fan: You mean you DIDN'T read it before the movie... *fake shock*
Fangirl:... Should I have?
Actual Fan: RARR! MOM I THINK I'M HAVING ANOTHER SPELL!!!!

Twilight

The biggest load of shit to ever hit shelves. The books were filled with the biggest nonsense that anyone has ever read. They're worthless, stupid, and Stephenie Meyer gives every author and everyone hoping to become an author a bad name. Thanks a lot.
Lee: 'I'm trying to become an author.'
Erin: 'Don't, Twilight and Meyers just fucked up the publishing industry for everyone.'

Twilight

A book series written by Stephanie Meyer. A BIG controversial piece of literature; either you love love LOVE it, or you want to kill anyone who says anything that even remotely sounds like "Edward Cullen". The true feeling behind this book, is that love is what really matters, though many people feel it's just opportunity for Rob Pattinson to be adored by all females age 12-?. If you hate it, hate it, but no one can say that it's 100% unoriginal.
Have you read the Twilight series?

OMG i HATE IT!!!!! Rob Pattinson is such a douch-overacting-self absorbed FREAK!!!

Yeah, that's the movie. I asked if you had READ something other than your own internet blogs in the past 2 years.

Twilight

A really addictive teenage fantasy romance book that causes millions of millions of teenage girls to go without eating/sleeping/talking/studying/school/TV/friends/a life in fear of putting the book down. I was one of them.
And i know it isn't the greatest book ever written and it is cliched and it doesn't have a real character development and the plot isn't great but........ i don't care! Its just something about the book that captures you. Some element, and its not just edward cullen (the hottie of the book). Its just the escape from reality the book offers that is appealing. It suits teenage girls demands perfectly. I know it doesn't have very much 'vampire' fights and scary stuff, but thats not what the author wants to give to her readers.
Teenage girls aren't that into that sort of stuff. And its stupid to slate the books, just because they don't suit your demands from a book. You don't see all teenage girls slating the inheritence trilogy (which i admit i did read) or whatever else boys are into (not being 1, i wouldn't know). And don't start saying that i wouldn't know a good piece of literature if it smacked me in the face. I've read more books than i care to remember and very few of them fit the teenage romance bill (what you classify as stupid).
So lay off the Twilight series boys. Its not something you'll understand because admit it, you don't know how the female mind works. No matter how much you think you do. And i admit that some of the plot is a little strange. But theres no need to slag off stephaine meyer's version of a vampire. Its her book, she can do what the hell she likes with the characters. Noone forces anyone to read the books. And i don't see any of ye earning millions off anything you've written.

So basically, to sum it up, Twilight is a really really addictive book for girls that boys will prob never get. Ever.
Clueless skeptics: Twilight books should be torn apart and burned so they can never be read again
Twilight reader: You so read the book

Clueless skeptics: I saw the movie and the books are probraly just as bad
Twilight reader: The movie ruined the books. Rob Pattitson and Whats her face didn't do Edward and Bella justice
