Joshua Norton

Joshua Abraham Norton, known as Emperor Norton, was a citizen of San Francisco, California, who proclaimed himself "Norton I, Emperor of the United States" in 1859. He later assumed the secondary title of "Protector of Mexico".

The Emperor of United States and protector of Mexico had sadly this legend has passed on January 8th, 1880.

Remember in September 17, 1859 happened and Joshua Norton, who lost his money in an attempt to corner the rice market, today declared himself Norton I, Emperor of the United States and Protector of Mexico. Best emperor of all time.
