Usually said of a gay-pornography actor, it also applies to straight guys who dance at gay strip clubs, do photo shoots for gay-themed erotic publications, act in gay romantic scenes in non-pornographic films or television, or hire themselves out as gay escorts.

A reference to the Youtube video, "Are you going to pay for that?", in which the video consists of a guy sitting in his parked car. He is then rear-ended by a teenage girl driving and accidently hits the back of his car. He then gets out a machine gun and begins firing it out of rage and closes with the question "Are you going to pay for that?".

Above and beyond, normal drunkenness, those who are shi'pay are likely to end up arrested, swimming in their own bodily wastes, getting tossed out of parties, losing all of their gear including clothing, having Sharpie tattoos drawn on them by total strangers and waking up with a hang-over bad enough to ask for Dr. Kevorkian and no recollection of the previous night's idiocy.
